Awards & Notification

Awards:
Scholarships are awarded in amounts of $2,000, $5,000, or $10,000. The majority of scholarships are for $2,000. Up to 25% of the total scholarships awarded to high school seniors are in amounts of $5,000 or $10,000; these scholarships are awarded to the most qualified applicants from across all eligible high schools.

The $2,000 awards are distributed in fall of the first year of college. The $5,000 and $10,000 awards are split into two equal payments distributed in fall of the first and second years of college.

Scholarship recipients must take payment of the scholarship in fall term/semester 2018 or the scholarship is forfeited.

All awards are non-renewable; however, past recipients, granted they meet all other eligibility requirements, may reapply during their second year of college for a $2,000 scholarship for disbursement in fall of their third year of college.

Awards are for undergraduate study only and are not payable to for-profit institutions.

Notification:
All applicants will be notified of their status via email in April 2018. Recipients must log back into the application portal to accept their scholarship award. Recipients will receive award certificates at the Kaiser Permanente scholarship awards ceremony in May 2018. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

Payment of Scholarships:
Payment of $2,000 scholarships is made in one installment directly to the institution designated by the recipient. Checks are made out to and sent to institutions in summer of 2018. The $5,000 and $10,000 scholarships are split into two equal installments made in summer of the first and second years of college (summer 2018 and summer 2019).

Obligations:
Recipients are required to submit all required materials to Kaiser Permanente and to notify Kaiser Permanente of any changes in address, college enrollment or other relevant information.
